Enjoying a Healthy Pregnancy
You may enjoy a pregnancy with no complications and bring home a healthy infant from the hospital. Yet a trained and caring nurse can provide you with an added layer of security and comfort through:
- Physical assessment of you and your child
- Breast feeding support
- Early identification of complications
- Instruction in infant care and safety
- Helping to define roles in the adjustment period
- Emotional support and reassurance
- Information on community resources
Combating Newborn Jaundice
Forty percent of newborns become jaundiced within the first few days of life. A few of these infants need treatment with phototherapy. The Stork Watch Program can provide your baby with in-home phototherapy as well as daily visits to draw the infant’s labs so that you do not have to travel to the hospital for this service.
Working through Complications
Pregnancy isn’t always free of trouble. You may experience gestational diabetes or pregnancy-induced hypertension. You may struggle with preterm labor and require partial or complete bed rest. Your child may be at risk, or you may face the potential of a premature birth. In such cases, personal nursing care is essential. Through the Stork Watch Program, you can benefit from:
- High-risk obstetrical Registered Nurses
- Maternal/newborn nurses
- NICU Registered Nurses
- Home health aides for bed rest pregnancies
Our Registered Nurses will work with you one-on-one, and following doctor’s orders will:
- Conduct a maternal-fetal assessment
- Show you how to monitor fetal movement count each day
- Instruct you on diabetic diet compliance to improve perinatal outcome
- Teach you about medication preparation, site rotation, and subcutaneous self-injection technique
- Instruct you on the use of blood pressure equipment
- Administer and/or teach injection therapy for Betamethasone, Heparin, Lovenox, and 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone
- Coach you on the signs and symptoms of complications
Preventing Prematurity
If you have a high-risk pregnancy, RP Home Care offers a unique Prematurity Prevention Program & Uterine Self-Palpation Program. This program is designed to teach you strategies to prevent preterm delivery so that you can continue your pregnancy at home. You will receive assessments and education by perinatal nurses as well as personal support and reassurance.
